There is a lot going on in Laurel. So much that the Town and the Laurel Redevelopment Corporation, as well as other partners working on different projects in and around the town, created this website and associated Facebook and Twitter sites to keep you informed and engaged.

The other partners include the University of Delaware, US Department of Agriculture, Delaware Economic Development Office, and Cedar Creek Sustainable Planning Services.

  • The Ramble, for example is a unique green and mixed-use development project that recognizes and embraces the topography and features along Broad Creek. It has attracted interest and funding assistance from many different places.
  • To engage the citizens of Laurel in envisioning just what can happen along Laurel’s waterfront, Better Block is coming here on September 26.  Better Block is a national movement that helps  communities engage in a real-time buildout, envision the possibilities for a block or other geographic district (such as the Broad Creek waterfront), and provide feedback.
  • US Senator Chris Coons toured the waterfront in May along with US Department of Agriculture Bill McGowan (a Laurel resident) to learn of The Ramble vision.  A USDA Rural Communities Development Initiative (RCDI) grant was announced for Laurel at that time. More info about those funds will be discussed here, but they include the design and development of this website.
  • We have created a forum that invites your participation and engagement in the big plans for Laurel.  You just have to register with your name and email and remember your password. Your opinions, thoughts and suggestions are critical to the success of Reimagining Laurel.
