SUMMARY:Paint Laurel Plein Air
DESCRIPTION:The inaugural Paint Laurel Plein Air is part of the One Laurel\, One Day community event held on May 21\, 2022 in historic Laurel\, Delaware (rain date May 22). \nAll artists working en plein air in oil\, acrylic\, pastel\, and watercolors are invited to set-up their easels to capture the picturesque town and all its charms on a spring day. \nThis fun\, informal painting event in the morning will be followed by a community celebration meal with participating artists. The event will culminate with an opportunity for artists and visitors to view and purchase the finished pieces during a “wet paint” art walk and sale. Artists wishing to get a head-start on selecting their scene are invited to a barbecue on Friday\, May 20 from 6 to 8 p.m.\, which will also include walking tours of the town by knowledgeable\, local guides. \nParticipating artists are asked to pay a $10 registration fee\, which entitles them to take part in the temporary “wet paint” exhibit and sale as well as enjoy the provided meals. The event sponsored by the Laurel Historical Society is a fundraiser for the homestead restoration project. Bring your lawn chair or blanket. The property is located at 205 Willow St. \nDinner will be available for purchase including the Vanderwendes Creamery food truck. Beer\, wine\, and soft drinks will also be available. Enjoy the classic rock sounds of Charlie and the Cool Tones\, explore exhibits\, and enjoy the beautiful views of historic Broad Creek. Our partners include the Nanticoke Heritage Byway\, The Nanticoke Watershed Alliance\, Trap Pond State Park\, Bethel Historical Society\, Old Christ Church League\, Laurel Redevelopment Corporation\, and Laurel Parks and Recreation. \nLaurel’s iconic Rural Gothic Revival cottage will soon take on a new life. It will become a museum celebrating Laurel’s agricultural heritage and heyday. The 4.33-acre property was owned and/or occupied by six generations of the Edmund Hitchens family.

DESCRIPTION:Christmas Markets come to Broad Creek in Laurel on Friday\, December 7.   In conjunction with this year’s Laurel Christmas Parade “A Christmas Village”\, the newly formed Laurel Parks and Recreation will host a Christmas Village Market on Front Street along Broad Creek between Delaware and Central Avenue.   With over 16 shops lined up\, including a Spirits of Christmas Pop up Street Pub\, shoppers will enjoy a festive holiday atmosphere while supporting local small businesses and enjoying the Laurel Christmas Parade. \nThe pop-up shop lineup includes unique holiday items from The Posey Palace\, Laurel Lioness Baked Goods\, VanAucken Homemade Fudge\, doTerra Essential Oils\, D and K Kraft\,  A &K Enterprises\,  Mary Kay\, Mancave  Woodworks Shop\, Artisanal Soaps\, Out of the Attic Antique Mall\, Day Spa at the Marina\, Moggie Designs\, Charlies Treats Bakery (all natural for your pets!)\, Lularoe\, Eastern Shore Kettle Korn\, The Farm Stand and more!   The Farm Stand will feature live Christmas Trees\, wreaths\, and garlands and a loading zone will be designated for ease of picking up your Christmas Tree.  Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase and the pop-up pub will feature hot fireball cider\, wine\, and beer with live music provided by Tyler Meding. \nPop up shops open for business by 6 pm\, the parade begins at 7 and the shops and pub remain open until 9:30 pm.   Come to Laurel for an early dinner\, pick out your Christmas Tree\, do some holiday shopping\, listen to live acoustic music in our pub while sipping hot cider\, and watch the parade.   Dress warmly in your craziest holiday outfit and come on out and celebrate with Laurel along Broad Creek! \nWe will also be collecting canned goods\, toys\, and warm weather clothing to donate to area charities.  For more information on the Christmas Parade and Markets visit our Facebook page Christmas Village Markets on Broad Creek or call 302 875 2277.
